POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: IT DIRECTOR
As the official philanthropic and collaborative partner of Grand Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon Conservancy’s mission is to inspire generations of park champions to cherish and support the natural and cultural wonder of the Grand Canyon. GCC raises private funds, operates retail shops within the park, and provides premier educational programs about the natural and cultural history of the region.
The Grand Canyon Conservancy is currently seeking a Director of Information Technology who will be responsible for Grand Canyon Conservancy’s information technology programs and will play a critical role in the organization’s growth and digital transformation by implementing a forward-looking IT strategic plan. The role will focus on consolidating systems to create a cohesive technology infrastructure, enhancing data accessibility and connectivity, optimizing systems capability, and ensuring a seamless end-user experience. The IT Director will oversee the management and implementation of applications, cybersecurity, infrastructure, IT vendors and service providers, and the Helpdesk for GCC. By aligning technology solutions with organizational priorities, the IT Director will foster innovation, improve operational efficiency, and position GCC for sustained success in achieving its mission and strategic goals.
This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position. The position is remote-eligible in the continental US, with a preference for an AZ location; quarterly travel to the Grand Canyon South Rim is required. The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and supervises one direct report.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead IT operations for the organization with involvement in special projects as required. Duties vary and include, but are not limited to, the responsibilities listed below.
IT Operations Management:
● Oversee daily IT operations, ensuring system reliability, security, and performance.
● Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices in alignment with organizational goals.
● Ensure that IT support services are timely, responsive, and effective for all users.
● Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to IT and nonprofit sectors.
Technology Planning & Implementation:
● Collaborate with leadership to identify the organization's technological needs and opportunities. Based on the feedback received, develop an organizational-wide IT improvement roadmap.
● Lead the planning and execution of IT projects, including system upgrades, new technology selections and implementations, and digital transformation initiatives.
● Develop and manage the IT budget, including procurement of hardware, software, and services, while ensuring cost-effective solutions.
Security & Compliance:
● Develop and enforce IT security policies and protocols to protect the organization’s data and infrastructure.
● Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including data privacy laws and cybersecurity standards.
● Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective measures.
Stakeholder Engagement:
● Work closely with department heads and staff to understand their technological needs and challenges.
● Provide training and support to staff on the use of IT systems and tools.
● Communicate IT initiatives, policies, and updates to the organization’s leadership and staff.
Vendor & Partner Management:
● Foster and manage relationships with external IT vendors, service providers, and consultants.
● Negotiate contracts and service agreements to ensure the organization receives high-quality services at competitive rates.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Five or more years of experience in IT management or a related role, including system consolidation and integration.
• Demonstrated success in developing and enforcing cybersecurity policies and practices to safeguard organizational data and manage risk.
• Strong knowledge of IT governance, regulatory requirements, and best practices in data management and reporting.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure) and familiarity with CRM and POS systems
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CRISC, CISSP, CISM, PMP, or ITIL) or equivalent experience.

• Demonstrated success analyzing and enhancing workflows and developing actionable insights using tools like SQL.
• An action-oriented, flexible, and innovative approach to IT leadership and project management.
• Strategical and tactical thinker with a track record of achieving high-performance goals and managing multiple projects effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to share complex ideas and concepts clearly, concisely, accurately, and effectively with diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information with confidentiality and making independent decisions when challenges arise
• Personal qualities of integrity, collegiality, a sense of humor, and a commitment to fostering a positive work environment aligned with GCC’s mission
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Ability to sit in a sedentary position at a computer for long hours
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as using a mouse and keyboard
• Ability to travel to the Grand Canyon’s South Rim without assistance

The hiring salary for the position is 115K annually.
