POSITION SUMMARY: Northeast Bank’s (NASDAQ: NBN) National Small Business Administration (“SBA”) Lending team is looking for a motivated and diligent Credit Analyst to support its loan underwriting and closing functions. Northeast Bank utilizes a technology-based origination platform and collaborates with an established Lender Service Provider (“LSP”) to underwrite and close SBA 7a Small Loans. Northeast Bank has earned a reputation for providing creative and responsive lending solutions and is powered by an experienced team with a successful track record. The Credit Analyst will be responsible for supporting the origination process including completing underwriting and closing due diligence items according to SBA Standard Operating Procedures (“SOP”). A successful candidate for the Credit Analyst position will have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluate SBA 7a Small Loan applications via online portal to ensure files meet all Bank and SBA credit, eligibility, and risk standards.
- Make credit decision recommendations on straightforward loan applications to the SBA Credit Manager.
- Collaborate with the Bank’s LSP to address and resolve any credit, eligibility, or documentation issues.
- Confirm prepared loan documents are accurate and consistent with the approved credit memo.
- Attend standing meetings with LSP and technology vendor to address any process or platform issues that may arise.
- Support efforts to respond to various portfolio management or audit inquiries.
- Successfully pass technical and regulatory examinations as required by the Bank.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong track record of performance and leadership.
- Prior banking experience in loan underwriting, asset management, and/or loan processing preferred.
- Outgoing, charismatic, and comfortable engaging with people in all types of environments through all mediums (phone, in person, via email).
- Team-orientation with a desire to learn and improve.
- Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Formal bank credit training a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND CONDITIONS:
- Flexibility in schedule with respect to meeting time sensitive deadlines.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
- Some travel is required.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25lbs.
- Consistently operates a computer and other office equipment such as calculator, copy machine and printers.
- Climate controlled general office setting with moderate noise level.
- Must express or exchange ideas with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
